tip do you have songs/singers that you hate only because they remind you of someone or some event you sooo don't want to be reminded of?

some songs remind me of times gone and soemtimes its happy and others not... I think with time the association changes or at least I try to chaneg the assoication. I reclaim these and other things. Places, resturants, songs, words... I will not be held hostage to a bad memory. I make it mine again.

One example is ringtones... I had a special ringtone for someone special and when that person exited my life I changed my default rigntone to that same one so that I wont jump when i hear it or think of that person... with time it works and I get to hear my favorite ringtone with no bad memories...

I am against leaving the things we like behind I am all for recaliming them and changing the associations when we can :)

No one should have that power over us, especially when they are no longer in our lives.

There's one particular song by Fairouz  that I cannot listen to, even though I adore all her other songs. But few years back on the worst road-trip ever the driver kept replaying this song over and over and, till this day I just get depressed when I remember the road-trip or the song.

Other than that, there's a song by erasure that I have a love-hate relationship with.  The song is called "Piano Song", and I like it so much, but it puts me in such a bad mood. The Lyrics are so powerful

You can listen to the song at your own risk : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KzisOrpPsEI

or just read the lyrics: http://www.lyricsdomain.com/5/erasure/piano_song.html

Yep! Celine Dion, once an avid fan (a loooooong time ago) now I can't stand hearing her voice. She reminds me of my second adolescence. Cheesiness and Drama...lots of it!
