tip Having a mentally demanding job helps protect your brain from Alzheimer's according to Italian scientists. They suggest mentally tough work, or genes which help people achieve such careers, may help the brain compensate for disease.

Unfortunately this is not totally true, because Alzheimer's is a genetic disease which makes it hereditary. There has been some experiments showing that mental activities and even exercise for that matter can lower your risk of getting it, but the scary fact remains that if any member in your direct bloodline had it you are at 25% risk of getting it. I'm not making this up, last week I had the privilege of dining with Jacqueline Morby one of the founders of the "Cure Alzheimer's Fund" and thus far all the research confirms what was stated above. The good news however that this very fund research activities, succeeded in identifying the genes responsible for Alzheimer's and are very optimistic that finding a cure is coming in the near future.

Playing sudoku, crossword puzzles, and other mind games also help. Alzheimer's is a horrible disease. Do anything to avoid it.
