With the world of social networks I don't think that is the case anymore, you go to an outing and at least one of your friends mentions something related to Facebook, or Google. Its all interrelated and I believe there is no separation anymore.

I think the wired world is real it is an alternative form of expression now. Our interactions happen in a forum that is not tangible but very real. The only difference is that it is not syncronized. Phone calls, f2f conversations, meetings are syncronized, emails, fourms like this other tools too online happen when we want them to at our convienience. That doesnt mean this world disappears when we turn off the computer. In fact just like the real world if we arent here this one keeps going and it wont wait for us :).

I think it's both; the virtual is real, for instance there is a "real" conversation happening in this Quest thread ...I believe its virtuous cycle between the physical and virtual spaces, where conversations intersect in between...

but what I\'m wondering about is... is it \'virtual\'? or is it real?

like even in terms of relationships on facebook... is hugging  someone on facebook virtual? or can it be considered real?

and things even get more crazy on second life...

you can do what ever you want there... invite people to see your art installation... your latest architectural design or shop with you...

for me is a bit confusing...

this virtual world is a place where you kind of "escape" the real world you live in .. i think when ur not in THAT need for it it disappears mentally and physically once u shut your computer down.. but when your so in need to escape your real life, or you find more joy being or interacting in this virtual world..it doesn’t disappear mentally and emotionally.. it only disappears physically and you can have it back whenever you want..

Some of the internet experiences are like that but with social networking sites like this one and facebook, they get into the non-virtual conversations of people arround me on daily bases. Also with smart phones around you can do so much as well.
