So basically Damar is our version of: Da-Bomb! :-)

Isn't also used when a guy is hitting on a girl? I think it's 'Damaaaaaar' in that case, no?

to me it mean complete and utter devestation but in Jordanian colloquial it can be used to replace many adjectives, it think, to express an ezzagerated response. For example: Kanat el hafleh damar- party was great.

We use words anywhich way we like them. Its all about context ..no?

I don't use it... but is an exaggeration of how good things are... I guess...

I love the example you included- "saying goodbye to you is devastating.” Brilliant! I wonder if it is used as much elsewhere in Arabic speaking countries and if they do use it in the same way.

Words are amazing.

I have never used the word "damar", but I went to Jordan in 2006 and was surprised to see people easily impressed with little things and refer to it as "damar" as in "of the hook".  Ex. walak enta wad3ak damaar.

Damar in Arabic means “damage,” “destruction,” “devastating.” When someone is telling a story and he is saying a situation was devastatingly exciting or extremely embarrassing, he would say: “wow, it was just dammar!”

I don't use  "Damar" alot but when i hear it mostly in Amman, its to exasurate about something positively. Like "the concert tonight was damar" meaning it was extra great and so on!
