tip One can never experience real personal growth until they swim alone in life for a while. Get out of their hometown, live far away from family and friends and just discover themselves.

But isnt realizing how much you dont want to do new things part of the growth and learning about ones self? I mean it took a trip to the US for me to realize how arab I am and being far away helped me realize that I wanted what I left behind me for those two months more than what lay ahead of me!

It is not that easy to generalize that people never grow up or discover themselves if they stay within their environment. Some do! for some it might take longer time, as all their needs are met without a lot of struggles.

In my opinion what matters is how much space & freedom do you have to discover yourself & grow, how far are you willing to go to validate your core values, social norms and cultural values. You can have it at home or abroad. You can be at the other side of the world yet you stick to what you only know in life.

I don't really think that this rule can be generalized although it's been observed in real life. The opposite has been observed as well.
