true, and context in that case is it's purpose =)

ex: the end of "Of Mice And Men" is beautiful, as the purpose is positive, beautiful, and full of love.

ex2: people in most countries take care of the senior and are ready to keep him alive (even on machines) which represents beauty in them. on the other hand the Eskimos burn their seniors and keep their ashes, which also represents beauty in their nature.

Generally, it's the distorted perception of our vision according to filters built-in within us.

distorted for it's the accumulative result of all sorts of exterior exteremly-biased, money-driven streams of media showering us with labeled and packaged ideals to what beauty is.

I say, beauty lies in everything. it's a quality nothing is void of, whether beauty is evenly distributed or not between all object is a matter my reasoning fails to grasp, sense my observations are biased by default by the fact that I am a human being, observing the world through my own individual filters.

Yet, Just like  Ahmad is taller than Omar and Omar is Taller than Saeed. and with the abscene of Ahmad, Omar is tall. I would find it safe to assume that the quality of beauty lies in context.

Maybe it's true, but in that case, not everything that's beautiful would be pleasing to the eye, ear.. the senses in general!

In everyone and almost everything there is beauty...if we look with the right eyes, we can see this beauty. The more beauty we see around us the more beautiful we become, and vice versa.

Beauty is relative.. To you something/someone might be the most beautiful in the world, others might find that person/thing very bad looking or at least normal.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder in the sense that, to you a beautiful person is a nice person, but to others, maybe, tey wouldn't care about how nice they are, they care only about how that person looks.

On the things/art side, if a person says something is ugly, you can't argue, since everyone has his/her own taste, for example, when modern at came out, some people didn't even consider it art, yet others fell in love with it!

Even though beauty is in the eye of the beholder as Josef writes, but i think there are a few necessities for something to be beautiful: kindness, smile, care for others, love of life, etc. of such traits makes someone and something beautiful.

Have you not had the experience of thinking someone is beautiful only to change your mind after seeing him be cruel to others?
