Is it me or do I see a lot of repetitive copying going on in the Ammani "art-scene", most times I go to see art exhibitions I am slightly disappointed because its touted as fresh hip young new, and winds up being something tired borrowed and old. I mean imatation is the sincerest form of flattery but when the artists have an ego the size of the amman gates well... I just kind of get disappointed? A friend of mine said it well, that Jordan never really had an interest in art, and that in order for it to grow there has to be the imatation which hopefully develops into something original and newish. O and if I have to see yet another short film with someone telling us how when they were a child... I will bitch slap the director into an alternate universe! :-)

Is that possible an art collective actually working together! I thought a lot of artists collective egoes would get in the way of them working collectively! :-)

More power to them if they can and do brilliant about time I mean you had all these art movements throughout time and here we are 2008 and we finally might have a movement... :-)

I insist: Oil is more important than art!

art seems to be much more popular in the area than we give it credit for. you can see it in audiences excitement and interaction. a group of us have been meeting and discussing, supporting each other and planning and dreaming, i think we have a form of collective among us, it is boiling into something good.

Hello. Ahmad, your answer is not quite right. there is a lot of interest in the arts in the Arab world. One collective i can think of right now is Atlas Group in Lebanon. Of course there are others. I will rearch a little and get back to you on that.

enjoy.

Sadly, art is not so important in the Middle East. Oil is. Just kidding. We're testing Questler, aren't we?
