Well I was having a discussion about this with a couple of friends today and there were two things that came up

1- that the cosmos is like an equation... this equation has to be balanced always so if you take something out now it will come back on the other side (maybe at a later date) and so the effect will remain so the equation is balanced

2- the chaos theory will be at play and change one thing you may not really end up fixing things but you may make them worse (see butterfly effect - the movie)

ohh my my, what a question?!

I thought of many things but then "Oil" came to my mind, the reason of all reasons, so I would say "Discovery of oil" I don't want it to be, and only then the world will live in peace :) maybe too much peace with no lights and early sleeping. sorry questler you won't be born with out oil too, unlike me :P

I would have let Adolf Hitler be accepted to the Osterrieches Kunstakadmie in Austria and given him good grades... :-)

Then he wouldn't have been so bitter, and the successive events in history could/might have been avoided....
