What's the best band/solo artist of the 80's?...

Music is great my collections spans Charleston/New orleans Jazz & Blues from the 20's, the big band era's 30's, 40's & 50's, Pop from the 60's, love it all.

Show tunes and musicals, but what really is brilliant is Scores & Soundtracks for films.

it comes as a surprise to me that no body mentioned the king of 80's.. AKA King of POP AKA Michael Jackson.. for those who where old enough to remember the 80's he was the man back then.. for me the top 3 artist of the 80's:

Best Male Solo: Michael Jackson (songs before 1990 ~ 1970-1990)

Best Female Solo: Madonna (80's songs ONLY)

Best Band: Duran Duran (Who I used to have a big poster for in the 80's)

Best Solo Album: Thriller - Michael Jackson (1982)

Best Group Album: Arena - Duran Duran (1984)

the 80s were the best I agree... I wouldnt know where to start naming the best so many wonderful voices and so much good mucis... Madonna comes to mind as do teh Eurithmics, Pet shop boys... and the list goes on

Slowdown Walid LOL, Ghassan asked about one band/artist in 80's and you listed them all, Man! how many band you know?

Ghassan, I'm sorry I can't help you, maybe 80's were the best in music, I'm not sure about that but I'm totally sure it was the worst regarding fashions :)

On the other hand 60's and 70's WOW, the best ever and to name a band from that period I say "The Who".
