tip If science came out with a fact that contradicts with your faith, like human cloning as an example, will that shake your faith or religious belief?

Ah, don't u knw that the Holy-Quran is 80% science and 20% teachings.. God wants us to explore. God is inside you by the way. inside me, inside everyone of us ;) go explore, don't get cought by the common belief around you.

science is great.

Science is based on trial and error. Faith is based on belief (and dare I say non-logical belief!)

The two don't mix and we should resist the urge to mix them. They are two parallel paths. Faith (and more importantly religious people) should stay away from proving religion validity through science.

Cloning: I say it's cool. Religions said that we can't be gods and 'create.' I don't think religions outlawed our trials to create though. They challenged that we would ultimately fail. Religious scientists will not even try to 'create.' Non-religious ones certainly will try to do that. The former see creation as 'Godly' while the latter see it as 'scientific.' Science however is still in the weaker position since it couldn't prove religion wrong on the creation topic.

Cloning is not considered to be creation. There's a difference between copying an existing book and composing a new book from scratch all together.

I just came back to this post to see the replies.. and I actually agree with mahmod on this point, cloning is not creation.. it's the same as sexioul production, only the dna is taking from one parent other then both parents..

Again Ostaz "I like your screen name BTW" :)

So again, you can't use "Create" because creation must be giving something out of nothing, unlike cloning thats why scientists call it  human cloning not human creating.

Cloning is nothing but giving an identical copy of another living species, in simple words it's taking cells and grow them :) and if they were really creating then why they don't create something we don't know, a new form of living, Dolly the only success attempt of cloning was a sheep, come on I want something new to be dazzled not a sheep :)

How this affects me, well, it will make me even more faithful, and wonder how god taught human to do all these amazing stuff :)

Now if you suggest another example like what if scientists were able to create human out of nothing, no sperms no womb no genetics from another human.. just a machine with all wires to produce a living species then that will be another issue :P

Mahmood,

what if scientists were able to "create" a human being out of another one? Doesn't that make scientists not God the creator of that cloned human?

Never, it's true that our religion is against cloning, human cloning in specific. I'm sorry for saying this but your example kinda doesn't fit the question :) and here is why "if I really understand the question" :):)

Cloning is a science and it's real, religion is a spiritual thing and it's against human cloning, now how this contradicts with faith, religion doesn't say that we will never "be able to clone, it says it's wrong to clone.

Now a good example that fits your question is that if science proofs for sure there is no god, will that shake my believes :)

For me if science with a very clear evidence came up with a fact that totally contradicts a fact "not order" from my religion, then this will not shake my faith but it will give me a reason to study more to find out what happened to science :P and that will never happen.

No it won’t, as religion/faith to me evolves with me through time (no constants)…

If anything it helps put things (religion) into perspective; helps paint the picture...

How is cloning a fact... it is a technology. I would think that after confiming that the world is infact round and not flat ... anything with enough evidence and logic is belivable. The world is an ever evolving ever changing place... science like the universe is infinte... or is it ? ;). the only constant in the world is change.

So I guess my answer is no it wont.
