tip Do you think that soft skills like time management, leadership, communication...etc are more important that technical skills like project management in personal or staff development?

Ghassan yes I asked which is more important but I think that there are no absolutes as well. The ideas being presented are all valid and when hiring people I think it depends on the position and therefore the judgment is weighted based on required skills.

In my opnion soft skills are very important. Without them you may have the best technical person who is very dysfnctional in a team. What do you do with that person. Which is why development on that level is necessary for growth. It also depends on the level of the position and its functions.

Perhaps technical skill is more important with senior poitions and sometime the technical skill necessary is a soft skill that perhaps is where the line gets blurry.

HUmans only make things sounds more complicated than they seem to be, yes, my job in life is to simplify complexities and not to complicate the obvious and the simple.

i interviewed 1000's of talents and still interviewing everyday, i used to hire people based on their credentials and personality, then i have changed my approach to a more daring approach. making the applicant rediscover himself.

Unfortunately, HR these days are becoming Logical Driven. Dealing with Humans or Huwoman requires deepness. otherwise, the hire is flat and plain. :)

baker: part of my work was as a HR, so I interviewed a lot of jobs applicants.. it's not as easy as you make it sound, almost all of the times you don't get people who have all your check list.. so you had to choose, and that was the original question

Ghassan, which one is more important, Adam or Eve? knowing that Eve was extracted out of Adam.. without Adam there won't be any humanity, without Eve there won't be any growth and birth.. don't you think so.

plus, sometimes, a simple answer is the answer. no need for complications :)

sure baker.. but the quest was which one is more important, meaning you have to choose, you can't just go for the easy answer and say I choose both :)

Dear Questler, thank you for such a wonderful question. which one of the 2 is important and which one is not or less important. i do believe both are equally important, marrying LOGIC to MAGIC, bluring the line between YENG & YANG. Today's life is extremely demanding, people are no longer interested in the final outcome, they want to witness a brilliant work flow as much as ending up with a smart product. i agree with Razano that T talents are what we need today, a talent who's a go-getter, a talent who's motto is "if it's to be it's up to me".. The question now is "how to raise a T talent nowadays?

time management is part of any good project management..

as for other skills, they're not impotent as they are a plus.. unless you're in high management, then yes, they became more important

They are not "more" important, I would say they are great to have if you already are very skilled in one area. I heard talk about hiring T shaped people, that is people who are very skilled in one area of expertise yet the hat in T means that they are knowledgeable about other areas as well. These I think are the best people to hire.
