tip the heart and the mind can be in disconnect and so create mixed feelings about things.

I don't think the mind feels. The mind calculates, analyses, assesses and so on. The heart feels. I think when our mind tells us something that our heart refuses or vice versa, then I would call it confusion rather than mixed feelings.

I know exactly what you feel, I’ve been to a seminar in Sweden, where I was the only delegate representing the Middle East along with two Israelis, the seminar required us to work with each other (live together, research, do presentations, have discussions…) it was very hard because they come across as very friendly -provokingly- people (since they are trained to do so, so that if you choose to react negatively or unkindly towards them the blame is put on you). Still it was helpful that the majority of the Scandinavians supports the right of return, and condemns the Israelis actions in Palestine.

thanks to both of you for your comments... perhpas it will help if I describe the situation I am refering to. I was in Haifa recently... the feelings of being there and even interacting with Israelis on a personal basis was very mixed becasue of the disconnect between what my mind is telling me and what I am feeling todwards them.

heart: --> Do things suite me or not, am I comfortable or not, ne mattaer what analysis of the conjenctur is. So we are talking about feelings, or emotions in principle.

Mind: --> How things work, what are the possibilities of so and so, it has to do with analysis of the certain conjencture at hand.

To have a disconnect between the two, the analysis of the conjencture should lead to states that are then weighed in terms of their relevancy to me or not.

According to one theory, there is a difference of time scale between our emotional and the rational sides of us. Emotions, or feelings are very fast.

The widespread wisdom asserts that a wise man (or woman) is the one who acts or base his/her actions upon thinking rather direct, superficial feeling. But this deprives us from being spontaneous creatures, and may lead to one becoming very cold :)

Emotions, feelings pertain to what things should be, while things pertains to how things are. The conflict is there.

That is how it should be! :-)

Mind over matter! Sometimes it is good to think, analyse and judge before acting! A lot of problems in this world are caused by low to no impulse control (the heart). While if you actually admit it your head keeps you out of trouble. but if you can't control either then you are screwed big time!
