Ghassan, that's exactly what I was saying!

One should watch out from using words like "weird" when describing a ritual that is faith based! :-)

What ghassan said applies here, I am sure whether you are christian (depending on what sect of christianity) or Moslem (Ditto) someone somewhere is going to look at the way you pray and say hmmmm strange. :-) But back to wiccans they are a nature faith respecting maother nature and all her creations. Neo -Pagans are fun too.

In ancient times before you even picked a fruit you asked the spirits of the trees for permission, not like today where mother earth lies bleeding shamed and dirtied by the plague on her surface called humans, seriously we are acting like a very virulent strain of a killer disease with our pollution and de-forestation. Sorry I went green for a moment. :-)

@joe, what looks "eccentric and weird" to you may look normal to others, and your religious rituals may look strange (and funny perhaps) in the eyes of an atheist or even a guy from a different religion..

I liked your explaination, SXTZ!!! Reminded me of "The Secret"! :P

@Alma, I KNOW that the Bible has no spells, they're called Prayers :P

Here's the thing, in Wicca, for example, the spells they cast are their prayers, but their rituals are different than ours, they're a bit eccentric and weird, maybe sometimes freaky, even!! Anywaythe thing I'm trying to get to here, is Spells or Prayers, if you practice any of them you must believe in a higher power if not a HOLY power.

I have no idea how my thoughts lead me here, but I like where I'm getting... I need to think more about this subject!! :P

@Alma and Walid.. I do agree o some point, away from "god" and religious perspective, I do believe in the power of envy from "some" ppl (although I can't explain it yet).. and yes, I do agree that the mind holds a "physical" powers that is yet in need to be explained and discovered in a scientific ways.

I think and this my own version of why I think witchcraft (if you want to call it that) works.

The rituals, and preparations for the rituals are so complicated that it makes you concentrate on the matter at hand and only that, sort of like when you empty your head of all thoughts in meditation, and then you concentrate on 1 thing and that is the only thing that matters. You go into a sort of trance-like state where you amnipulate your mind and energies (and since we are magnetic fields and so little is known about the minds capacity to influence things and events) well... Who is to say that the energies don't flow outwards and get you what you want (okay turning someone into a toad is a bit far off but...). In ancient times they didn't comprehend what it was so they attributed it to demons and such when in reality it could boil down to something so simple as the power of the mind over matter.

Whether you believe or disbelieve it doesn't matter there are a lot of weird things going on that cannot be explained away... I for one think its the power of the mind, and that is why I do not believe that the power is good or bad but rather how you use it. And for myself I have experienced first hand the good the bad and the downright nasty side effects of using and abusing the power. That is my truth.

But a lot of people believe in envy and spells cast by reading parts of the Quran, Bible, etc. to ward off illness. Most persons in Jordan would go to a religious healer for psychological illnesses rather than go to a psychologist. So, potions and spells are not works of fiction to many nor are they related to witches only.

What do you think of that?

hmmm love potions, toads and warts... soundlike fairtales to me... Harry Potter anyone?

Posted by Ghassan on 17.08.2008

Well, I hope this is all just a joke! Seriously.. if there was something that turns men to frogs it would be acquired by the most powerful nations! just think of it, it's more powerful then nukes..

Hum, well, is this one secret that you will reveal or not? i am trying to think of someone, anyone to turn into a toad, can this work for someone other than a lover?

Posted by SXTZ on 17.08.2008

Secrets rarely revealed only to a select few.

But here's a funny title I came across a few years ago: "How to turn your ex into a Toad" fun times! :-)

It's an old song, and later (in the 90's I guess) a movie:

Posted by alma on 17.08.2008

Hum, i did not even think about that- the magic interest....

What exactly is "Love potion no.9"? Is there such a thing?

Posted by JosefJ on 17.08.2008

Someone is very interested in magic these days!!! :S :P

Posted by Ghassan on 17.08.2008

So it's like Love potion no. 9.. but then you would know it's not real, if you're just looking for sex or company, that might do it for you. But if your looking for true love, then what good a magic potion would do!
