I read a study once that stated that in eight hours of work a highly productive employee works five hours. The rest of the time is spent socializing and doing other tasks that are not relevant to the work.

I personally think that humans are not machines and the concept of productivity is a strange one, because often times one is not working on a task but thinking about it, which should be considered work also, but it often is not.

actually sally.. I have no real interruption problems from the client, it's the junior staff of the team that I'm having problems with! (no need for more details here!)

ahhh my dear ghassan you would be surprised with how you can train people to respect your boundries... even clients

well, depending on your job.. when you're in project management, either the client or even the team members (especially the junior staff who will be asking you on every little details verbally even if you already discussed with them earlier and documented it in an email!!) will be interrupting you from time to time, I tried to reduce it as much as possible (through daily reporting and documenting every thing for reference.. with details), but can't stop it!
