tip Unlike common belief, when the weather is very hot its better to cover up as much skin as you can to both keep cool and protect the skin from the sun. Clothing should be made from natural fabrics and should be loose. Traditional cultures in desert-like weather conditions do cover from head to toe to stay cool!

Dark/Black clothes and synthetics are better sun-blocks (as the weave is tighter, think tan lines!). Whereas cotton has an spf of 7 and zero if its wet.

But the idea of bundling up in summer is a correct one as the various layers of clothes actually sometimes do have a cooling effect. I always wear and will always wear dark clothes in summer.

Very true... I am sually covered head to toe in the desert and it makes my life easier and protects my skin. And keeps me cool.

When I tell people this they look at me funny.

But tradiational clothes in thr desert for women now are black and that is not COOL! They should wear white like the men.
