tip At CERN, scientists were trying to mimic the early conditions of the Big bang. There were some ideas that this might result in small "Black Holes" that can make the Earth vanish in a faction of a moment. Despite the fact that we are still here, what do you think of this approach: In order to prove some theories, scientists take some measures and do experiments that makes our human existence threatened?

"The Large Hadron Collider near Geneva will be out of action for at least two months, the European Organization for Nuclear Research (Cern) says." http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/7626944.stm

:-( i was so anxious about the big bang experiment on Oct 21st!

I love it.  I think it's an impressive feat that a lot of remarkable people are contributing to.  Risk is inevitable if we are to advance.  It's like sacrifice, sometimes something has to go to make space for new or better or different.  If we're going to vanish because a bunch of incredible people are trying out something phenomenal, I'm cool with that.  It's a good way to go.

I am not that paranoid about this experiment at all. I truly think these people know what they are doing, it took them 30 years to build such a humongous crazy to the detail machine and I believe them when they keep saying the probability of a tragic accident is almost zero.

In general, we should always experiment and test all theories.. in this case there are a lot of elements that should be taking under consideration, sure they would know that better then me, but for some reason, I got the feeling their doing a publicity stunt rather then actual scientific experiment!

This is idiotic, they risk humanity just to prove their theory?? Well... if they proved it, how would we know if we're already dead? :P

I think I saw a documentary about this on Al-Arabia once!
