I guess it was around 6:30 AM in California and I was sleeping like a baby after a long night when my roommate woke me up with "NY is on fire." My first reactino was "F*** off. I'm tired and need to sleep." Few minutes later my eyes were wide open staring at Al-Jazeera coverage. I then asked a very smart question: "Where is the other tower?" Few minutes later I saw the second tower collapsing.
I can assure you that what Ghassan said about 'Payback Day' crossed the mind of almost anyone I know including myself. 7 years later (and a lot of reading and UN-educating some of my understandings of this world) I regret it. I personally think that our hate to America is based on wrong input, assumptions and pre-conditioning. But that's a different topic. May Allah have his mercy on all innocent souls around the world.

Yes, I saw that clip of the movie several times. I think whomever was responsible Qaeda or others definitely had help from inside the US government. If you watch enough of 24 you will know that for sure hehehe.

I was getting a model ready for a shoot and saw it on CNN and said o shit this is the beginning of the end for us!

Did you guys ever notice in the film "The long Kiss Goodnight" Where they mention something like blowing up the world trade centre, funny that it was made before Sept 11th in a long long time! Just wondering.

I was in the office. arabia.com and the news came over the newsfeed we were all there in the news room. Watching TV in horror. I remember standing behind a cubical partition leaning on it. Watching the plane go into the building, the smoke billowing. And the horror of what i saw started to sink in. MY GOD. And then another thought came into my mind "Please dont let be arabs".

At the time I was living at my parents house (and I guess I had the day off), my father called me to see a big plane crash, at first, I was shocked of this big crash to such populated area.. after a while, the second crash happened! WTF, that was my first impression.. then I just realized it, it's payback time for America, so, to be totally honest, a big smile drew on my face.. yeah, untouchable America (which I really really hate, and still do) is under attack, which gave me a happy satisfaction feeling.. and the rest is history.

I was in Amman at the office, where someone said "come watch the TV! a plane hit one of the world trade center buildings" went and starred at the screen and was excited, like this big disaster movie I am watching. Then the second plane hit momentarily and i was scared, this was no accident. I was scared they will blame the Arabs. Then few hours later I was sad for the loss of lives but mostly was sad that there will be no hope for me a Jordanian to get more civil liberties, they will be taken from people in the west and they will become like us. Emailed few friends in the US and made sure they were Ok.

Sitting in Internet City, Dubai, clicking on the CNN breaking news link after receiving a mobile alert.  As I stared into the screen, sound still choppy, my colleague Bashar next door said, 'it looks like some dumbass flew his training plane into the trade center'.  Under my breath I said to myself, 'that's not a small plane'.  Then in a flash of a second we were all grouped, standing watching a TV screen.  The sound bites I remember are two distinct ones:  Richard said, 'if you've decided to die, you are capable of doing anything.'  And I said, 'diplomacy just got redefined'.  Then frantically got my mind racing about who I new in NY....
