In chess, it doesn't matter if you lost more pieces than your opponent, as longest as you gonna win at the end of the game (because actually there is an end for the game!).. in business on the other hand, there isn't really and end for the game, there is no end result (except in rare cases when a company get bankrupted), so it's about what you win in each move.. hope all is clear now.

I don't see the "unlike" in your argument. I guess, it should be "like", as what you described applies to chess as well. :)

unlike chess, in business, it's not only about the end result.. you can win (as will as loose) in every move.
